Video: Walking the Peaks for Jane Tomlinson

The second annual Peaks Walk for All was aimed at fundraisers of all abilities, with walkers being able to choose from a family-friendly five-mile walk; a tougher 14-mile ramble, or a near-marathon 25-mile trek that took in famous landmarks such as Jacob’s Ladder, Mam Tor and Kinder Scout.

Rebecca Tomlinson, daughter of the late Jane Tomlinson, said the Peak District national park meant a lot to her mother, who studied in Sheffield, and the whole Tomlinson family.

She said: “The Peak District is one of my favourite parts of the world.

“I have great memories of it because we used to come to the Peaks on holidays when we were children.

“It always reminds me of happy times.”

Walk For All event lead Tristan Batley-Kyle said: “The Peaks obviously has fond memories for the Tomlinson family, but it is undeniably one of the most stunning parts of the UK.

“When we began thinking about our new walking events, we knew instantly that we would want to have a walk in the Peaks. Its scenery is at the same time both beautiful but rugged. It’s not like anywhere else in the country.
