Vietnamese schoolgirls who disappeared from York found in south of England

Two Vietnamese schoolgirls who went missing from York have been found, police confirmed today.

Luong Phan, 15, and Tram Le, 14, had last been seen near York Minster on Sunday lunchtime.

As police searched for the pair, the investigation developed from a missing persons appeal into a case potentially involving modern slavery.

A man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday at a location which police said they could not disclose.

The 28-year-old was charged with two counts of modern slavery and appeared a York Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He was remanded in custody until a hearing on Monday.

This morning, North Yorkshire Police said both girls had now been found safe and well.

A spokeswoman said: "Overnight, one girl was found at an address in the Thames Valley area and the other was located in Bedfordshire.
