Views sought on removing castle trees

Public talks have begun on a proposal to remove a number of trees within the grounds of Knaresborough Castle to improve views of the Castle Keep.

During a previous survey in 2007 concerns were raised that certain trees within the grounds obstructed views of the castle, which is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster and managed under a lease agreement by Harrogate Borough Council.

Since the growth of the trees is now further obscuring views of the Castle Keep, public opinion is being sought on whether four should be removed.
