Viking re-enactor up for award

SHE has been giving visitors across the globe an insight into life in the Viking era throughout the last decade.

And Colleen Davanney’s efforts to bring the bygone era to life has seen her nominated for a national award to recognise those who have played an invaluable role to boosting England’s tourism industry.

Better known to many as Frigga Boardotter at the Jorvik Viking Centre in York, Ms Davanney is the only Yorkshire representative among a 10-strong shortlist for VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar Award.

She has also helped to showcase the Tudor era while working as a historical re-enactor at Barley Hall, York. Voting will start next month
and the winner will be announced during English Tourism Week between March 16
and 26.
