Village launches bells appeal

Residents plan to raise the cash to install a full peal of six bells in the church to mark its 100-year anniversary for 2011. The group is also appealing for volunteers to train as bell ringers under an expert from Ilkley.

Appeal committee chairman John Hopkins said: "We wanted a project to celebrate the centenary of our church. A magnificent peal of six bells will sound wonderful and will enhance not just the church but the village and valley as well."

It is hoped the money will be raised by donations and fundraising events are already being organised by the appeal committee and North Rigton Parish Council.
