"Together we have restored historical features as well as improving amenities for local people. From the restoration of the village well to the provision of country footpaths, the LEADER project has been a boon to Coxwold."

Another village to benefit is Cold Kirby, where residents who joined forces to come up with new uses for their village hall were rewarded with 7,000 to help restore the roof and improve facilities.

Jerry Walker, a member of the village hall committee, said a local survey highlighted interest in using the hall for exercise, classes, and films.
