Vintage delights at Newby Hall

Tractor enthusiasts and families from across the country will gather in Yorkshire this weekend for an event billed as the UK's leading vintage tractor show.

The theme of this year’s Tractor Fest at Newby Hall near Ripon is ‘Made in Yorkshire’ and the event’s organisers at the Yorkshire Vintage Association have called on owners of Yorkshire marques to join them at the show which takes place today and tomorrow.

Thousands of visitors are expected at the festival where they can browse more than 1,500 vintage tractors, engines, commercial vehicles, cars and motorcycles from around the UK and from further afield in mainland Europe.

The ninth annual East Riding Young Farmers Clubs charity tractor road run saw 74 tractors take part to raise funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and RABI - the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

Jenny Sleight, who helped to organise the event on behalf of East Riding YFC, said: “I love the fact that such a wide age range of people can share the same hobby. To see a 16-year-old enjoy the same hobby as his grandfather is remarkable.

“(And) it is amazing to see such a wide range of tractors in such a range of colours and sizes.”

She said she wanted to thank everyone involved in the day for their support.
