Vintage moment for one man and his dog

A golden age of motoring was recalled when hundreds of vintage car and motorbike enthusiasts gathered at Ripley Castle, near Harrogate, yesterday.

David Bell, who lives near Ripon, is seen with his dog Heidi and his Ford Model A, which was built in Manchester in 1929. He is the second owner of the car which has been garaged for 30 years.

It was among more than 400 classic cars and bikes, left, plus 4x4s, that took part in The Classic Car Rally on the showfield.

Visitors were also able to enjoy the castle gardens as part of the entry price.
