Vinyl sales soar to 10-year high

Vinyl record sales are at a 10-year high with releases from Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys and David Bowie driving demand, new figures show.

They have crossed the half-million mark already this year, the first time this has been achieved since 2003, and sales have doubled in a year. Music fans have bought 550,000 vinyl albums so far this year, according to analysis of Official Charts Company data by recording industry body the BPI.

Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories is the biggest selling vinyl album this year, with AM by Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys the second most popular buy.
