Volunteer for ‘Bioblitz’

NATURE enthusiasts are wanted to record as many different species of wildlife as possible at a Barnsley reserve.

Staff at RSPB Old Moor will be launching the “Barnsley Bioblitz” on Friday, September 21. Over the course of that weekend, scientists and members of the public will survey the area and identify and record as many species as possible over 48 hours.

A similar event in Sheffield identified more than 1,100 species.

Liane Holdsworth from the RSPB said: “A bioblitz is a bit like a stock take for wildlife, and is something that anyone and everyone can get involved with.”

Guided walks at Old Moor will be held on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23.
