Volunteers wanted for Himalayan challenge

Charity trek organiser Julie Patmore gets in some training to tackle the foothills of the Indian Himalayas.

Volunteers are needed for the five-day trek in May next year which will follow a route from Delhi through dense forests, meadows and mountain trails.

Money raised will go towards the Yorkshire Cancer Centre's 10m appeal to buy equipment and fund research at the Bexley Wing at St James's Hospital, in Leeds.

Those taking part need to pay a 300 non-refundable registration fee and commit to raising 2,950 by February 2011.

Ms Patmore said those wanting to take part should not worry about being fit enough or not being able to reach the fundraising challenge.
