Volunteers wanted for terror exercise

VOLUNTEERS are wanted to take part in a mock terrorist attack to be staged at Barnsley Hospital next week.

Emergency services will decontaminate a number of the "victims" of the attack by using shower equipment provided by the fire service and hospital.

The operation, codenamed Exercise Godiva, will be held immediately outside Barnsley Hospital's emergency department in Gawber Road on the morning of Tuesday, July 13.

A hospital spokesman said: "The hospital must hold a live exercise every three years as part of their national legal duties and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to patients and visitors during Tuesday morning.

"Alternative parking will be available in any of the other hospital car parks including the new area at the top of Summer Lane.

"We would still like to hear from anyone who is willing to volunteer and take part."
