Walkers invited to sponsored trek for guide dogs charity

PEOPLE have been invited to take part in a sponsored walk at Otley Chevin to help raise money for guide dogs.

The West Yorkshire branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind is calling on all walkers to take part in the event, which is open to everyone with or without dogs, and raise cash for charity on Sunday, July 3.

Event co-ordinator Sue Summersgill said “The walk will take around two hours and will afford good views of the beautiful countryside around Otley and Lower Wharfedale, ending with a picnic.

“We are hoping that as many people as possible will come along, but if they cannot make it on the day, perhaps they will be inspired to organise their own sponsored walk and raise some much-needed funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind.”

The route will largely follow the Otley Chevin Forest Trail and is around 5.8 miles but there is a shorter path as well.

Anyone wanting to take part should meet in the car park opposite the Red Hot Chilli restaurant at 10.30 am on July 3. Sponsor forms can be downloaded at www.guidedogs.org.uk , contact Sue Summersgill on 0755 407 9199 or email [email protected]
