Walkers urged to record beauty of Dales on event

Mike Tomlinson has launched a competition for those taking part in this year’s Walk For All Yorkshire Dales Walking Festival.

Northern Rail, partner of the event, is asking people to take pictures of their walk for a chance to win £250 worth of shopping vouchers and a donation towards their charity.

The Yorkshire Dales Walking Festival takes place on Sunday, August 18 and will see Northern run its special Jane Tomlinson train from Leeds to Settle with all proceeds from the train that departs at 7am and returns from Settle at 5pm going to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

The picture competition will run via Twitter and walkers should send pictures to @northernrailorg using the hashtag #daleswalk

Mr Tomlinson, Jane’s widower, said: “The Festival encompasses three different walks for all abilities so it’s a great day out for all ages. And as we know, God’s Own County has the best views of, arguably, anywhere in the world, so we’re expecting some fantastic photos.”
