Walking for Jane

IT is easy to understand why the late, great and much missed Jane Tomlinson fell in love with Settle. An abiding symbol of the Dales, this town – and the rolling hills on the horizon – illustrates the very best of Yorkshire.

Given the Tomlinson family’s affinity with Settle, and the town’s poignant place in their hearts, it is entirely fitting that should now host a special walking festival to compliment the various runs and swimathons that have been set up in Jane’s memory.

Three and a half years after the inspirational Jane finally succumbed to cancer, it is typical of the family’s selflessness that they continue to put others first in order to continue embracing the children’s and cancer charities that have benefited from their endeavours over the past decade.

With walks of varying distance to suit people of all ages, it is hard to think of a more enticing prospect than a summer Sunday in the Yorkshire Dales honouring the memory of Jane Tomlinson, and enjoying the unsurpassed views afforded by Britain’s finest countryside.

Now, where are the walking boots?
