As part of the project, BBC bosses are aiming to find the greatest amateur invention from across the UK. The winner or their invention will be immortalised in a future production from animator Aardman.

Budding Dysons are being asked to design and build their creations from bits and pieces they find around the home. They can enter as individuals or teams, including entire school classes.

Wallace and Gromit's creator Nick Park, who was behind films such as The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave, will be among the judges.
