RESIDENTS in Wakefield who are struggling to pay their energy bills could be eligible for a replacement boiler and loft insulation in a new council-backed scheme.
Glow Warm Wakefield is a Government-backed energy efficiency scheme being delivered by regeneration specialist Keepmoat, in partnership with Wakefield Council.
The scheme offers replacement boilers, cavity wall and loft insulation at little or no cost to home owners and private tenants across the district who are struggling to pay their energy bills.
It is estimated that that more than 13,000 households across the Wakefield district are currently in fuel poverty.
Councillor Denise Jeffery, cabinet member for regeneration and economic growth, said: “In these tough times, it’s important that people don’t fall into fuel poverty and we are doing all we can to offer support and guidance so residents can keep warm and save money.”
Eligibility is subject to a survey and other qualifying criteria.
