Warning after six fined for littering

SIX people have been ordered to pay out more than £1,500 in fines and court costs after being caught dropping litter in Doncaster.

Doncaster Council secured convictions against the individuals at Doncaster Magistrates' Court, after they were caught dropping litter in St Sepulchre Gate, West Laith Gate, Trafford Way and Baxtergate.

The fines handed out by magistrates in a single afternoon ranged from 75 to 150, and each of the six individuals also had to pay 100 court costs and a 15 victim surcharge.

Coun Cynthia Ransome, Doncaster Council's cabinet member for neighbourhoods and housing, said: "The message is do not drop litter.

"If you do not take responsibility for your actions the courts will fine you.

"Doncaster Council pays a lot of money to keep our streets clean and littering is not tolerated."
