Warning to agitators on the internet

A SENIOR police officer in Yorkshire has maintained his force remains committed to bringing internet riot instigators to justice despite six people being released without charge.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed the six suspects arrested over allegations of posting messages on social network sites to encourage rioting will not face prosecution. Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Tim Madgwick said: “While no-one has faced any criminal charges, we hope it acts as a warning now and into the future as to how serious the police take such threats.”

Meanwhile, a man aged 19 from Portobello, Wakefield, has been charged under the Serious Offences Act 2007 and will appear before Wakefield magistrates on August 30.
