MOTORISTS are being warned of potential delays on the M62 motorway today.

The Highways urgency has urged people to plan ahead, after a collision between a caravan and a car on the westbound carriageway between junction 22 and junction 21 near Rochdale.

The road has reopened but delays are still expected.

Major disruption to rail services out of Leeds, caused by a lightning strike to signals, is also expected to have a knock-on effect on the roads, with train passengers having to drive instead.

Earlier in the day, a van fire had stopped traffic on the M62 eastbound between junction 9 and junction 10 in Cheshire.
