Warning over bogus sales

People are being warned to take extra care when answering the door to sales representatives.

A double glazing company is making false claims and using a high-pressure sales technique in the Highroad Well area of the borough, says Calderdale Council.

Residents are being told that their council tax bills will go up unless they install "new energy efficient double glazed windows".

warning residents to be on their guard against bogus telephone callers.

They believe a crime research company is cold calling individuals to say that they have been selected for a free burglar alarm and security risk assessment.

The company is allegedly charging people thousands of pounds for cheaper alarm systems.
