Warning over false claims on ‘boiler scheme’

A COUNCIL is warning householders to be on guard against people making claims about a non-existent replacement boiler scheme.

Kirklees residents are being warned about callers who say they are part of a council scheme to replace boilers. No scheme is currently being run by the council but incidents have been reported in Mirfield, Dewsbury, Birstall, Fieldhead and Batley.

A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said: “Householders would not be approached in this manner by council staff. Anyone with concerns about callers should ask for the ID badge and ring the contact details supplied for Kirklees Council to check on their identity before allowing them into their home.”
