Warning on school holiday roadworks

ROADWORKS will be taking place at various locations across Sheffield during the school summer holidays.

The largest of the resurfacing schemes, at Gleadless Road, will begin on Monday, August 23, and take two weeks to complete.

The road will be closed to through traffic, with a diversion via Abney Road, Callow Road and Blackstock Road.

Smaller resurfacing works will also be carried out at Deerlands Avenue and Wordsworth Avenue in Parson Cross, Elm Lane in Firth Park, Beech Hill Road in Broomhill, Lyons Street and Ellesmere Road in Burngreave, Riverdale Road in Fulwood, Beaverhill Road in Beighton, Brook Road in Meersbrook and Retford Road in Woodhouse.

Sheffield Council's Cabinet member for business and transport, Ian Auckland, said: "The work will be completed as quickly as possible, but as always the schedule is subject to weather conditions."
