KEIGHLEY residents who served their country during the world wars are to be remembered at just one of several exhibitions being staged at the town’s library on Saturday.

The Local Studies Library has teamed up with the Keighley and District Local History Society to hold a special day to celebrate the rich history and culture of the town from 10am to 4pm. It will be officially opened by Charlie Bhowmick who was awarded the MBE in 2005 for his services to race and inter-faith relations in Keighley.

The library is on the first floor of the main library in North Street and the event will showcase the work of local groups with an interest in history such as the Men of Worth project.

This project by local historian Andy Wade remembers the men and women from the Worth Valley who served their country in wartime.

Keighley and District Local History will attend with Keighley Archaeology and Keighley Schools as they have collaborated on a project collecting photographs, documents and memories related to the history of town schools. Projects from Keighley schools will also be on display.
