Wash but no go as lorry overturns

A LORRY overturned on the Flouch roundabout near Langsett in South Yorkshire yesterday morning, shedding its load of shampoo all over the road.

As a result, the A616 Whams Road between Sheffield and Huddersfield was partially blocked in both directions at the junction with the A628 Woodhead Pass, causing long tailbacks as drivers were directed around the scene by police.

The heavily-congested route is one of the main roads into both Sheffield and Barnsley for motorists travelling across the Pennines from Manchester.

The lorry and its load of shampoo was cleared by 11am yesterday morning and traffic flows quickly returned to normal.
