RESIDENTS in one of the top seaside resorts in Yorkshire will have a chance to inspect detailed plans for a water park, part of a £140 million regeneration project.

Benchmark Leisure’s application for the next stage of Scarborough’s Sands development, includes the multi-million pound water park, a family restaurant and 163 holiday homes. The proposals can be viewed at the town hall and on the borough council’s website.

The exhibition runs until December 1 and planning officers will be on hand to answer questions on Thursday.

Benchmark’s owner Roland Duce said: “The water park is our next priority and we hope to begin work on site next year for a summer 2013 opening.”
