Water waste warning for shower fans

Home owners waste up to 271,000 million litres of water each year by spending too long in the shower.

A survey by manufacturer Triton found that by spending an extra five minutes under the shower people were wasting enough water to fill 135,668 filled Olympic-size pools.

Whilst 86 per cent had ditched water-intensive baths in favour of a shower, almost half spent between 10-15 minutes under it

With the average shower using around 60 litres of water every five minutes, Triton is calling on the nation to reduce their daily shower by just five minutes.

In doing so, this could save around 21,900 litres per-year per-person – enough water to make 109,500 cups of tea, the company claims.
