Heavy snow forecast for Yorkshire in freezing weather warnings ahead of Storm Jorge

Heavy snow could be on the way for much of Yorkshire on Friday in fresh freezing blasts ahead of Storm Jorge.

There is a 90% chance of heavy snow from midday on Friday, in Leeds according to the forecaster.

In Ripon and North Yorkshire, snow is forecast from 1pm.

In Sheffield, snow is forecast from 12 noon, while on the coast, Hull is set to escape with just a mix of sleet showers.

That will turn to sleet elsewhere this afternoon with a mix of showers and cloud for the rest of the day.

It will not be a warm day, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 8 degrees C.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow covering Yorkshire.
