Man killed in three-car crash on M1; Major delays on trains

A MAN has died after a crash on the M1 motorway near Sheffield.

Police were called to an accident involving three cars on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 33 and 34.

Another person was seriously injured in the accident, in which a car left the main carriageway and ended up on its roof.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police closed the roads while investigations into the cause of the crash were carried out.

Meanwehile, rail commuters faced long delays on services into Leeds this morning. Network Rail gave no reason for the disruiption on lines north of the city, but one passenger told the Yorkshire Post that a member of the train crew had said a “wrong train on a platform” was to blame.
