Police officer 'has never sprinted so fast' to rescue dog left in hot car at Temple Newsam in Leeds

A visitor to Temple Newsam House called 999 on Sunday to report that the animal was inside the car alone with no sign of an owner.

Two dogs rescued after being left in sweltering car in YorkTemperatures in Leeds hit 25 degrees at the weekend.

PCSO Danny Bottomley was sent to the scene and posted about his rescue attempt.

I don’t think I’ve ever sprinted so fast in my entire life to reach the dog. Luckily the owner had removed the dog from the car before we had got there. The dog is fine."

Temple Newsam's grounds and parkland are popular with dog walkers.

The hot summer has led to a number of high-profile cases of police officers smashing car windows to rescue dogs - who can die after just a short period left inside a stationary vehicle. In June, officers found two dogs suffering in the heat after being left in a car parked in the grounds of a hospital in York for more than an hour.
