Storm Diana: hourly forecast for Yorkshire as Met Office issues red alert for some parts

Yorkshire is set to be hit by strong winds and heavy rain this weeks, with red weather alerts issued for some parts of the region as Storm Diana arrives on UK shores.

The Met Office is warning of unsettled conditions across the region and has put a yellow weather warning in place for areas of Yorkshire on Thursday 29 November.

The warning is in place between 3am and 3pm, with the Yorkshire Dales, Keighley and Skipton among the areas set to be the worst affected.

A red alert for poor visibility, heavy, persistent rain and strong gales of up to 50mph has been issued for the Yorkshire Dales, along with an amber alert warning of severe chilly temperatures.

The yellow alert for the Dales warns of potential blizzards, storm force winds and thunderstorms.

Cloud will thicken in the west this afternoon, with rain and strengthening winds spreading in the east.

Heavy and persistent rain is expected across the Pennines later in the day, with maximum temperatures of 8C.

Tonight it is set to be breezy with outbreaks of rain, but will ease for a time later in the evening, before cool, drizzly conditions return by dawn.
