Trains cancelled and events off as rain sweeps Yorkshire: Full details

A SEVERE flood warning has been issued as forecasters said up to a month’s rain could fall over 24 hours, with Yorkshire among the worst affected.

On the trains, services between Hebden Bridge and Rochdale are being replaced by buses, with journey times extended by 45 minutes.

Some services from Leeds to Manchester Victoria and back are suspended, and other trains are terminating at Hebden Bridge

Services between York and Blackpool are currently still running.

Flooding is causing delays between Grantham and Newark, with trains between Peterborough and Doncaster being delayed by up to 90 minutes.

There are delays of 45 minutes between Leeds, Doncaster and Sheffield, with services being diverted.

On the roads, the A636 West Yorkshire has queueing traffic and the carriageway is just passable on A636 Denby Dale Road in Wakefield at Durkar.

On the A6101 in South Yorkshire, rain and surface water is affecting driving on Rivelin Valley Road in Sheffield between the Tofts Lane junction and the A61 Penistone Road junction.

In East Yorkshire, the carriageway is just passable on the A166 in Stamford Bridge around the Church Road junction.
