What’s the weather forecast this weekend?

Friday night will see a coastal mist, with fog and low cloud again moving inland with most of the region dull by dawn. There will be mostly light winds, with a light onshore breeze near the coast. Minimum temperature of 2C.

Saturday (25 April) will see an early mist and fog burning back to coasts during the morning, then another dry day, but more cloud than of late. There will be some brighter spells, especially inland, with light winds. Maximum temperature of 16C.

It will be mostly cloudy on Sunday and Monday, with some brighter spells, but also scattered showers. These may merge into longer spells of rain at times. It will be mostly dry on Tuesday, though cloudy.

What’s the long-range forecast?

The Met Office UK forecast for Tuesday 28 April to Thursday 7 May explains that “Tuesday will be generally cloudy with some sunny spells and the risk of showers, or perhaps some heavier downpours of rain, for many parts of the UK.”

It will be breezy in the north. Continuing through next week confidence becomes low but it looks to be generally more unsettled. There will still be periods of fine and dry weather with sunshine, but there with be a greater chance of showers or at times some longer spells of rain developing, especially in the south at first.

Then, moving into early May there is a chance of seeing more organised bands of rain arriving into the west with showers, perhaps heavy and blustery, in the north. Temperatures will be above average to start, but becoming a little cooler with the chance of overnight frosts in the north.

Stay at home

The Met Office has previously reminded the public to “please remember, despite the sunny weather, during this Coronavirus crisis the Government advice is to only go outside for food, health reasons or work, to stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people and to wash your hands regularly.”

Current government guidance is to only leave the house for very limited purposes, which are:
