AN ONLINE recruitment campaign has been launched to provide a launch-pad for careers in one of Yorkshire's prime tourism destinations.

A website has been established to help tourism and hospitality workers find new jobs in York's multi-million pound industry, which already supports more than 10,000 employees.

The site, launched by the city's tourism partnership, Visit York, in partnership with Welcome to Yorkshire, includes the latest job opportunities and also gives workers a comprehensive guide to the training courses that are available.

The chef proprietor of the Melton's and Melton's Too restaurants in York, Michael Hjort, said: "This is an incredibly effective mechanism for hospitality establishments and visitor attractions.

"Businesses now have the opportunity to search for the best candidates through a site which is highly targeted and above all, free to use."

The jobsinyork.com website is linked to Visit York's 630 tourism and hospitality partners, ranging from hotels, restaurants and retail outlets to museums and galleries and even taxi companies.
