Whale bones inspired students' creation

Design student Hansa Kandiah, 24, photographs the costume she and fellow Hull School of Art students Roxanne Avery and Laura Thompson have created for an exhibition at the city's Ferens Art Gallery entitled Ink or Swim?.

Students were challenged to use the inspiration of the city's museums and art galleries for their work. Hansa's group used skeletal whale remains at the Maritime Museum as the starting point for their gown, named 'Ivory Siren'. The exhibition runs until May 30.
