Whale washed up at Spurn Point

A MINKE whale has been found dead at Spurn Point on Yorkshire’s east coast.

The whale was first spotted stranded on mud flats by fishermen on Sunday and appears to have suffered serious trauma to its side and head.

Biopsies later today will confirm the cause of death.

The sad end for the whale follows similar strandings, including a sperm whale which washed up at Skegness last month and sei and fin whales found in the Humber last Autumn.
