What do you want from the council?

Older people across Bradford are being asked what they want from services to help them.

Building a Bradford District for All Ages – The Voices of Older People will give people chance to talk about the kind of services they would like to support them in the future.

Organised by Bradford Council's Older People's Partnership, the event will include discussion workshops to look at six 'critical issues' identified by older people in 2007 as priorities for future services.

Those include health and wellbeing; housing and homes; transport; financial security, employment and learning opportunities.

The workshops will look at how the issues have been addressed over the last three years and how they can be built into future plans. People can also talk to council representatives and other agencies about what they can do to improve their services to better meet their needs. Bradford Council executive member for adult and community services Coun Dale Smith said: "It is vital that people are at the centre of any planning of future services."

The event is from 9am to 1pm on Thursday at the Ramada Jarvis (Bankfield) hotel.
