Who is in contention for Sheffield Wednesday when Championship season resumes?

Sheffield Wednesday will play their first competitive game of football in more than three months on Saturday when they entertain Nottingham Forest.

Their return to Championship action following the government-enforced coronavirus suspension represents an opportunity for the Owls to draw a line under what has been a dismal run of form in 2020 and make a fresh start.

Prior to lockdown, Garry Monk's men had won just once in 10 league outings, their play-off hopes seemingly evaporating as they plummeted down the table.

A humiliating 5-0 mauling at Brentford in their last fixture before 2019/20 was halted by Covid-19 left Monk "embarrassed" and his team in 15th place.

Currently eight points outside the top-six with just nine matches remaining, Wednesday have a huge task on their hands if they are to force their way back into the promotion picture, but they do still have something to play for.

Here's a look at the players in contention for a place in Monk's match-day squad when the Owls re-take the Hillsborough pitch.
