In the interview Gaga is supposed to have said she could find that in Wakefield. She also reassured fans that she was not retiring but just looking for change.

The Pokerface singer is no stranger to Wakefield and West Yorkshire.

Back in 2010, ahead of a triple award winning performance at the Brits Lady Gaga had a romantic Valentine’s breakfast, with a mystery friend, in a barn on a farm in Crofton.

Gaga had been rehearsing her Monster Ball tour at Litestructures Studios in South Kirkby and after a discreet phone call to Lark Dale Farm, on Hare Park Lane, and farmer Howard Baines – the secret Sunday morning love-in was on.

Mr Baines said: “A friend of mine rang from where she was rehearsing and said he had a rather strange request, he asked ‘can I borrow a barn in the morning?’

“This was a fairly unique thing to happen – this is just a regular working farm.”

Gaga arrived in a blacked-out people carrier and went into the barn, which had been decked out with extra hay, to add to the special Valentine’s mood, before leaving with her guest about 45 minutes later.

Mr Baines said: “She was not dressed in what I would go to work in, black knee boots, leather jacket and sunglasses.”

And it looks like the morning Crofton air helped Gaga prepare for her appearance at the 2010 Brit Awards – where the New Yorker, famed for her lavish, outrageous costumes and hairpieces, picked up three gongs.

Mr Baines said: “It was a just a favour for a friend, I never charged her. I respected both my friend’s and Lady Gaga’s privacy.

“I was just helping out. I was never going to do a kiss and tell.”

Lady Gaga, who in real life is 23-year-old Stefani Germanotta, has sold more than 27 million albums, 135 million singles and has written hit tunes for other artists including the Pussycat Dolls.

She has also won six Grammys.

Her current home is a $24m estate in Malibu, California.
