Winners from region in care awards

Yorkshire has claimed three gongs in the national home care awards.

A quarter of the 12 category winners in the Great British Home Care Awards, which were announced at the Guildhall in London, were from the region.

Jeanette Grant, Denise Forder and Stephen Bateman, from Craven North Initial Contact Team in Settle, North Yorkshire, won the Dignity in Care Award.

Susan McGowan, from Continued Care from Oakville in Harrogate won the Home Care Worker Award and Emily Woodward from Allied Healthcare in Leeds won the Care Newcomer Award.

Regional awards were held in 2009 for the first time and the winners from the home care sector were then invited to attend a gala dinner at the Guildhall in London where presenter Keith Chegwin announced the winners.

Susannah Spencer from Lincolnshire County Council won the Home Care Trainer Award.
