‘Wishmakers’ make festive dreams come true for kids

A panel of judges examined ‘wishes’ placed into outlet shopping village Junction 32’s Wishing Machine - with £10,000 worth of prizes to give away to deserving people, schools, foodbanks and animal homes in West Yorkshire and beyond.

Among those who received an extra special visit from the wishmakers were nine-year-old Sienna Singleton, five-year-old Corey McNichol and Jack Shelton, two.

Sienna, who has a heart condition, hoped for a laptop so she could Skype her friends that she has met during one of her many hospital stays, Jack wished for selection of Fireman Sam goodies while little Corey selflessly refused to make a wish for himself, wishing “for everyone to be happy” instead. The kind youngster was instead gifted with an iPod Touch, some Lego and a teddy bear for his sister as well as a selection box for each of his classmates.

Kerry Singleton, Sienna’s mother, said: ““She was so shocked to find her wish was actually being granted and is excited to start speaking to her friends over Skype.”
