Witnesses sought after man hit by bus

A MAN suffered internal injuries when he was hit by a bus in Barnsley on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 27-year-old was crossing Summer Lane on a pedestrian crossing at about 4pm on Monday, May 31, when the vehicle, heading down Summer Lane towards Town End roundabout, struck him. He suffered internal injuries and was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital.

The 46-year-old male driver of the Stagecoach bus was unhurt.

Rupert Cox, commercial director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: "We can confirm that a Stagecoach bus was involved in a collision with a man on Summer Lane in Barnsley on Monday, May 31 at approximately 4pm.

"The incident is now being investigated by Stagecoach and South Yorkshire Police and a report is being prepared."
