Witnesses sought after woman, 19, is raped in residential area of Sheffield

The incident is believed to have happened as the victim walked from the Green Lane area of Ecclesfield towards Sicey Avenue, Shiregreen, along Woolley Wood Bottom on Sunday between around 12.15am and 1.15am.

A Ford Focus car reportedly pulled up in front of the woman, before an unknown person seriously sexually assaulted her.

Detective Constable Tim Bell, from South Yorkshire Police, said: “This incident is believed to have taken place in a populated residential area and we know that there are a number of houses that face onto these roads.

“I’d urge any residents living in that area to think back to the weekend and consider whether they saw or heard anything suspicious. Did you see a Ford Focus driving in the area that evening?

“The 19-year-old victim is receiving support from officers and we appreciate that this appeal may concern the local community, but we are working hard to identify the vehicle or the man as soon as possible.”
