One woman and two children were taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

The house left with the wrecked roof and first floor was a vacant rental property, said a spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

He also confirmed that an investigation had been launched into the cause of the incident.

Fire crews were called out at 8.30pm yesterday and remained on the scene until about 1am.
