Woman assaulted at York city centre taxi rank

A woman was assaulted during an altercation at a York taxi rank, police have said.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information after the offence on Duncombe Place, close to York Minster, at around 12.35am on Sunday.

Officers said that an altercation involving men and women resulted in a woman being assaulted.

A man who was involved left the area before police arrived, the force added.

He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall with dark hair and wearing dark clothing.

Police want the public to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the report.
