A WOMAN from Dewsbury has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving six months after a fatal crash involving a cyclist.

Emma Egan, 26, is due to appear in court next week accused of driving while over the prescribed limit, failing to stop at the scene and failing to report a road traffic collision.

The collision happened at around 8am on November 3, on Whirlowdale Road, Sheffield, near the junction with Abbey Lane, and involved a pedal cycle and a black Vauxhall Astra.

The cyclist, Eric Codling, 55, from Millhouses, Sheffield, was taken to hospital but later died. Egan has been released on bail to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on May 15.

South Yorkshire Police say two men, who were on bail in connection with the collision, have now been released due to insufficient evidence.
