Woman with exclusive address accused of money laundering

A WOMAN who lives in one of Yorkshire's most expensive streets has appeared in court charged with money laundering.

Maxine Valentine, 36, of Sandmoor Drive, Alwoodley, Leeds, faces two counts of concealing, disguising, converting, transferring or removing criminal property between April 2005 and March 2008.

The charges, brought under the Proceeds of Crime Act, relate to money laundering with a total value of more than 39,000.

Valentine spoke only to give her name, address and date of birth during the five-minute hearing at Leeds Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Magistrates extended her bail and adjourned the case to be heard at the same court on March 19.

Sandmoor Drive was identified as Yorkshire's most expensive street in a 2007 survey which estimated its average house price at more than 1m.
