She said: "I keep having visions of what happened and I have had two nights with little or no sleep. They held his arm in the door and wouldn't let him go until they had dragged him down the road. I thought he was going to hit his head and die.

"Ian has got a horrible wound in his side and he needs to have an operation on it. The police initially thought it may have been a stabbing from someone in the back passenger seat but the hospital said it could also be from a broken bone.

"He is in a lot of pain and they have had to block up the wound, which they will have a look at during surgery.

"We have had so many problems like this before. Our previous car was stolen and another we had was broken into three times.
