Woman fights for life after M-way smash

a WOMAN was in hospital with life-threatening injuries yesterday after she lost control of her car on the A1(M).

The 20-year-old was driving a black Ford Ka on the motorway near Doncaster, when it veered into the fast lane.

A police spokesman said: “The car then span out of control onto the hard shoulder, where it hit the nearside crash barrier.

“It then rolled along grass banking, finally coming to rest in the centre of the carriageway.

“The victim, from the March area of Cambridgeshire, suffered life threatening internal, hip and rib injuries.

“She was taken to St James’s Hospital, Leeds, where she is now being treated.”

Anyone who saw the crash, which happened at around 4.50pm on Saturday, should call South Yorkshire Police on non-emergency number 101.
