A woman was hurt after an assault outside a pub in Hull.

Humberside Police said the assault happened outside the New Empress pub, in Hessle Road, on Saturday at about 7.45pm.

The victim suffered minor injuries after allegedly being assaulted by a man.

Two bystanders helped the woman and took her home in their car.

The force has today appealed for information to trace the good Samaritans.

A 64 year-old man from Hull, who was arrested in connection with the incident, has been released under investigation.
